About Pound Ridge

Pound Ridge was originally settled in the 1640s and officially incorporated in 1788. It was the site of a dramatic raid during the Revolutionary War. By the 1930s the population had plummeted and then a businessman from New York City, named Hiram Halle came to Pound Ridge. He began reconstructing and renovating houses in the area in an attempt to revitalize the community. Pound Ridge soon became a retreat for many artists, actors, writers and musicians.

Today, Pound Ridge is still a retreat and home for many celebrities and there is a distinct charm in the town’s dedication to its architectural history. It is a rural area with a beautiful “downtown” area called “Scott’s Corners” on one street complete with many small businesses including a grocery store, fine dining, and an art gallery.

There are approximately 4700 residents in Pound Ridge.
